So I’m not sure why it always flows downhill—
Why broken cisterns never could stay filled.
I’ve spent ten years singing gravity away,
But the water keeps on falling from the sky

And here tonight, while the stars are blacking out
With every hope and dream I’ve ever had in doubt—
I’ve spent ten years trying to sing these doubts away
But the water keeps on falling from my eyes.

And heaven knows, heaven knows,
I tried to find a cure for the pain.
Oh my Lord! To suffer like you do
It would be a lie to run away.

You said, “It is Mine to fix,
“It is Mine to mend.”
And I have lost the will to fight.
So take me as I am
Take me by my pinned-down hands
In a gesture of surrender
Pick me up and pull me apart
Shake up every part of me
Don’t let the pieces fall till I’m pulverized
Till You have changed and replaced my mind.
Don’t let me go.
Gather me up in Your arms
And then I will call You Father
While You call me son.
When I stop waiting for a call to come
When my tears multiply none but from a broken heart
For a broken world,
Stand above me on the ground
Be beside me,
Under me, over me, I don’t care, just BE with me.
Surrender me,
Weave a white flag of my heartstrings
Let it beat while it waves in the air.
My face has changed,
My eyes are weak,
My voice is deep.
I am still here,
Hands raised, on the floor,
In a gesture of surrender.
I can’t fight anymore.
My voice is tired
And though I comprehend I don’t understand
I’m scared of life
I have changed.
My heart is selfish
My lust is real.
But You.
You love me just the same.
O how I love You Lord.
How I desire Your courts.
The taste of Your sweet name.
Once again,
As You count my follies,
As You pick them up
And throw them away
Take “all my head in Your arms”
Soothe it with Your wisdom
“Tell it from the top of (Your) heart”
That it needs stop spinning
In confusion and seeking pain.
Put Your hand in the spokes
Of the spinning wheels.
Stop me, please.
Give me sleep.
“Tell (me) from the top of (Your) heart.”
Make me rest in You.

Trying this

I haven’t posted any stanzantic thing I’ve written for others to read for a long time. But. Let’s try, and see how it goes.

Man of Sorrows!” what a name
For the Son of God, who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood;
Sealed my pardon with His blood.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Guilty, vile, and helpless we;
Spotless Lamb of God was He;
“Full atonement!” can it be?
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Lifted up was He to die;
“It is finished!” was His cry;
Now in Heav’n exalted high.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
Then anew His song we’ll sing:
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Philip P. Bliss, Hallelujah!  What a Savior!

“If you leave, I’ll still be close to you, when all your fears rain down. I’ll take you back a thousand times again. I’ll take you as my own. I will sing you songs of innocence till the light of morning comes. Till the rays of gold and honey cover you in the sweetness of the dawn.

But you’re always on the run.

Slow your breath down, just take it slow. Find your heart now. You can trust and love again. Slow your breath down, just take it slow. Find your smile now. You can trust and love again.

You’re not alone. You’re now a part of me. You feel the joy—I feel the toil that brought you. You’re not alone. You’re now a part of me. You feel the joy, I feel the toil that brought you.”

God, help me to have a right perspective on my relationships. To pursue them out of love, not out of guilt, desire of the flesh, or personal gain. To love people. To pursue them for who they are, in Christ. Amen.

A song sung over me

Rest,
And let all these things go away for a little while.
Sleep,
and let your head be clear in the morning.
Rest,
I will calm your mind from all but longing
Sleep,
and long for only Me and my peace.
Rest,
and I will wake you in the morning
Sleep,
And awaken with, and for me.

““Oh, I love You a lot. Oh, I love You from the top of my heart.
And what difference does it make?
I still love You a lot. Oh! I love You from the top of my heart.
And on Your breast I gently laid all my head in Your arms
Do You love me from the top of Your heart?
I tried my best, I tried in vain. Do You love me a lot?
Do You love me from the top of your heart?
And the people bowed and prayed
Oh, I love You a lot. Oh! I love You from the top of my heart.

And You can see through my mistakes.
Oh! I’ll tell it to You now. Oh, I’ll tell You from the top of my heart.

And what difference does it make
If the world is a mess; if the world is a mess?
And on Your breast I gently laid…

When the world’s come and gone shall we follow our transgressions? Or shall we stand strong?

I tried to save the things I made.
Oh, but the world is a mess. Oh! The world is a mess.
And what difference does it make, if the world is a mess?
If the world is a mess!
I tried my best, I tried in vain.
Oh, but the world is a mess. Oh! But the world is a mess!

Suffer not the child among you, or shall you die young,
When the world’s come and gone.””

Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:3

Let’s remember that the call of Jesus is not of personal comfort, but joyous sacrifice.
